PED1140A, welcome to your Language class - Bringing Language to Life for Life!
I'm so excited to get started. As you'll hear in class, we'll be going over a LOT of ideas each and every class. Every class, our materials will be shared on here. If there is something you miss in class, you can refer back to the slideshow from that class.
Feel free to leave a comment to let me know you were here or ask me any questions that we didn't have time to address in class.
The class was very interesting and interactive. I loved it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Marc,
DeleteThanks for the comment and for continuing the conversation after class. We'll all have lots to learn from your international experiences.
Shauna
Thanks for such an interesting and engaging class! I love the use of technology and the many resources (websites etc.) you provided us with. I can't wait to use them in my classroom when I become a teacher!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine,
DeleteI was very interested to read about your experiences leading a high school prep group for students. How has that shaped your thinking about teaching?
Shauna
I enjoyed today's class. I really liked the resources and ideas you gave us for future use as teachers
ReplyDeleteHi Keely,
DeleteThanks for the comment. What idea are you most excited about trying in your future classrooms?
I'm looking forward to working with you to talk about great ways to incorporate your passion for Drama into your Language classroom.
Shauna
Agreed - really great class. Loved the spaghetti and marshmallows, and all of the great "real world" experience you had to share.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
DeleteI've never visited Whitehorse, but would love to hear the similarities and differences you've noticed from there to here. Your experiences with Aboriginal education will be a huge benefit to all of us!
Shauna
I think today got me the most excited I've been since I accepted my offer of admission to the program. Keep up the great work and enthusiasm, Shauna!
ReplyDeleteJessica,
DeleteThat's one of the most awesome compliments I've ever gotten! Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment!
Teaching is "faking it till you make it", and I hope to help you increase your teaching confidence, but also let you know that we all have times that we have to fake it!
Shauna
Great class! I like that you are providing us with so many ideas to use in our future classrooms!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
DeleteThanks for the comment. What, in particular, do you think you'll use in your future classroom?
Your BA was similar to mine. I majored in English Literature and have a minor in Comparative Religion. Do you plan to do your ABQ course so you can teach the higher grades as well?
Shauna
I had a lot of fun! I'm already getting anxious for next class!
ReplyDeleteHi Sasha,
DeleteThanks for the comment. I'm anxious (in a good way, not so much the nervous way!) for next class too!
I was really interested to read about your experiences in Kitigan Zibi. I believe that members of the Global Cohort at UOttawa BEd visit Kitigan Zibi periodically. I think even our assistant dean teaches there regularly. Let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch!
Shauna
I enjoyed the class and the activities we did. Looking forward to next class.
ReplyDeleteYo, Aryam (it's your favourite word, right?!),
DeleteI was interested to read that you have been a volunteer in an elementary school for four years. What were the best parts of that experience? What ideas will you keep and change for your own classes in the future?
Shauna
Great class. I liked the interaction, the atmosphere, the video and the exercises!
ReplyDeleteHi Big Bert,
DeleteThanks for commenting. I'd love to hear more about your interest in teaching Japanese university students. Have you visited Japan before? A friend of mine teaches business development in Tokyo!
Shauna
This class is so much fun! I really enjoyed the enthusiasm and emphasis on group interaction; it definitely beats sitting in a lecture any day. I'm excited for next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne! I'm looking forward to pushing your creative writing this term and making you proud of the things that you create!
DeleteShauna
I loved this class. The activities and discussions will provide for a great learning atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily,
DeleteThanks for finding the blog and commenting!
I'm interested to work with you this term and see how you incorporate yoru passion for music into your Language planning!
Shauna
Thoroughly enjoyed our first class! Looking forward to an amazing semester.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kiera! I'm looking forward to it as well. I'm particularly interested in learning from you about your plans to return to teach on your reserve.
DeleteShauna
I really enjoyed your class last week. You are a very enthusiastic teacher and I cannot wait to learn from you this semester.
ReplyDeleteGreat class! I am excited to continue and to hear our 60 sec stories!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the first class last week, and am excited for tomorrow's class. One of my biggest weaknesses is using technology, and I feel as though this class will force me to improve in that department.
ReplyDeleteThank you for an interactive and fun class. I cannot wait to see the 60 seconds project for next class.
ReplyDeleteI just figured out how to comment! Wonderful class last week. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and all we will learn this semester :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome class, loved the kid like atmosphere and opportunity to volunteer at your school! PUSH ALL THE BUTTONS!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shauna for a great class! Great way to start off the program! Looking forward to class tomorrow!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis class made me realize that technology can be used in different ways than kids (or adults) expect. I'm so excited to continue to learn how to use it effectively!
ReplyDeleteI loved the class last week! (Sorry I'm late with my comment but like a few of us I only just figured out how to make it work). I'm looking forward to doing some more gonoodle and to be able to use it and inject some silly into my classroom. I'm curious to find out what we will all learn from everyone's 60 second stories tomorrow
ReplyDeleteI have a love hate relationship with technology
